How can your simple act of kindness towards someone or something affect the world? The iconic quote: “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle,” truly made me stop and think. I do believe the world could use a little more kindness today more than ever.
I was honored to hear Chris Norton speak last week. To say I was moved and inspired is an understatement. If you know Chris’ story (film: 7 Yards), you will understand his relentless perseverance for life. He was tragically paralyzed from the neck down in a football game. He could have approached his future as a tragedy, but instead he chose a path of embracing this twist and turn of life with discovery of his true grit.
Kindness comes in different styles of words and actions. Chris’ nurse, Georgia, used impactful words of tough-love kindness. He shared that one evening while in ICU, Georgia said with conviction and a deep focus into his eyes, “you will beat this, you will beat this!” Georgia’s kindness inspired Chris to lead “a no-excuse life.” This choice of kindness restored Chris’ hope and faith in life.
November 13th is World Kindness Day. I encourage you to honor this day with an act of kindness toward someone. Even if you do not know the demons, obstacles, or the hard battle that someone might be facing, you can choose kindness. Words and actions of kindness are impactful and can be transformative to a person’s life.
How can you be more like Georgia? How can you offer an act of kindness that might be uplifting, renewing, and offer hope to someone’s day, future, and life? Explore random (or not so random) acts of KINDNESS: https://bit.ly/102ActsofKindness
KINDNESS IS A CHOICE! YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS MATTER! KINDNESS MATTER
Food supports how one thinks, feels, moves, looks, and even behaves. What I ingest might even drive how my day goes and can definitely affect my night’s rest. I have taken the last couple of months to prepare a reprint of a cookbook that I coordinated many years ago. The original edition of “Recipes from the Heart” was printed in 2000. After repeated requests for a copy and no supply available, I have happily embraced making a reprint happen. I invite you to order your copy (or copies) today!
Health & happiness,
Charlene Bland
