“Feel the feeling, but don’t become the emotion. Witness it. Allow it. Release it.” Crystal Andrus
Surrender is learning to let it be. It’s not about winning or losing the game, the war, or the situation. It’s about truly embracing what is. I have grown to believe from my experience and wisdom gained in life, we cannot control what happens. We do, however, have full control and choice over how we react to events, people, and situations. Our reaction can come from a place of high vibration or a place less than. Do I choose to fuel the energy of an occurrence from somewhere high, a place of courage and bravery? Or is my reaction from somewhere low, a place of self-doubt and insecurity?
I try my best regardless of the challenge or difficulty in life to move forward with self-respect and dignity. I try not to lower myself to the events happening around me. We are all guaranteed times of struggle and tough choices. We cannot plan for these times and often they come from left field and out of the blue. Looking at each situation through the lens of potential opportunity can provide space needed to surrender and let be.
Tara Brach, a wise author, and clinical psychologist has a fabulous book called Radical Acceptance. Tara says that radical acceptance does not make one passive or provide an excuse to withdraw. Rather, radical acceptance can lead to genuine freedom. The freedom to let be as one chapter ends and a new one begins.
Within this book, Tara talks about a technique called RAIN: Recognize, Allow, Investigate, and Nurture. Recognize my situation and live with what is happening. Allow myself to feel the emotions. Investigate with curiosity, not cognitively, rather how my inner body is feeling. What is happening inside me right now and can I be with this? Nourish my soul, heart, and inner being to support healing and moving on in life. The process of stopping and going through RAIN allows me to let be, let go, and fully surrender.
I believe surrender is the high place, the place of high vibration. It takes far more courage and strength to surrender than to fight. I am not encouraging you to play dead in your life, rather move forward in life with utmost dignity, self-love, and self-respect.
Dig deep, find the courage to let be, feel self-love and move towards freedom with surrender. Feel more peace, less agitation, and less fixation on the self and ego. Be free from anxiety, self-doubt, and negative karma.
We cannot control people or events, we can only control our inner world, words, and actions. I encourage you to practice RAIN when faced with a difficult situation, emotion, or feeling. Stay connected with yourself, move mindfully in life, and live in the present moment with what is….surrender and feel its powerful energy!
